Motocross Fitness Training Update

I’m on my 4th week of Motocross Fitness Training, and wanted to give an update.

After 2 weeks of training, I went riding and was very surprised to see that I was more tired and seemed to have little to no fitness improvement.  Now in all fairness, it was a new track that I hadn’t ridden for over a year (Desert Peak Motocross track), and I believe it is a much more difficult track than the Jordan River OHV Park track. Riding Motocross and Fitness

As you know I recently got back into riding Motocross after a 1 year layoff.  It’s taken a few rides to even feel comfortable riding at the speeds I used to, and even now, I’m not going very fast.  Certainly not as fast as I used to be.  Now, I’m not a fast rider, I don’t take big risks, and I almost never crash.  But as I’ve been considering ways to get my speed back up and get the old riding techniques re-honed, I’ve considered that maybe I don’t take enough risks…  Could that be true? Jordan River OHV Park Track Photos - 7/5/2008

Here are some photos from my last riding trip. Though none of these pictures are of me — some how I’m always the photographer. :) These are of my friends and family doing what I love most… Riding. [Read more →]

Boys Riding Motocycles - 5/24/2008

A funny thing happened the other evening. I had decided to sell our LEM 50cc motorcycle as my boys are getting bigger, and I have 3 50cc motorcycles. Back in the day that was okay, but they are all a lot bigger, so they don’t enjoy riding the 50’s any more. I still need one bike for my 7 year old, but otherwise it’s time to upgrade.

So Saturday evening I went outside to clean the LEM and get some pictures of it to post it for sale on our local TV stations web site (sell.ksl.com). I was just touching up and re-sizing the photos of the LEM to post online, when my son called (he was at a friends) to ask if he could go with his good buddy to ride their 4-wheeler in a field near our home. I said sure. [Read more →]

2008 Motocross Nationals are Here!

Glen Helen here we come!

Although it’s been a great supercross season, we are at the eve of the 2008 Motocross Nationals, and I couldn’t be more excited. Sure supercross is enjoyable to watch, but it’s just not the nationals. I prefer the Nationals 2 to 1 over Supercross any day of the week. Their is just something special about 30 minutes + 2 laps x 2 that is just awesome. [Read more →]

2007 Motocross of Nations Pictures (Budds Creek)

Wow, this has been a long time in the making. Last September a couple of friends and I had the chance to go to the Motocross of Nations at Budds Creek, in Maryland. This adventure was one for the books — or at least my blog — even if it did happen over 6 months ago. [Read more →]

Tooele UT Motocross Track (Desert Peak) Pictures

I recently heard that the Desert Peak Motocross Facility (Tooele MX) had changed up parts of the track. Since this track is my local track I had to go check it out. Though I did not have a bike, I still had to go see it. I really like the changes.

For those of you that are familiar with the track, the back rythm section has been changed from: [Read more →]

Motoman Motocross Invitational II (MMI II) Pre-ride Report

This last week I had to go to Indiana to get some dental work done from a very good friend there. While I was there, I had the opportunity to head north to Howe, IN, where another very good friend lives that also just happens to have a 2008 Honda CRF450R, and a motocross track in his back yard (he has 5 acres). Updated Info About the Easton EXP Motocross Handlebars

A little more than a month ago, I posted an entry titled “New Easton EXP Motocross Handlebars” which is obviously about the new handlebar offering from Easton.

Well, something happened today over on allthingsmoto.com that doesn’t happen very often. On the thread that was started about the new Easton EXP bars, we received a visit and some great additional information from what would appear to be an Easton employee (csack56) or at least someone in the “know” about the bars, which is really cool in my opinion. New Easton EXP Motocross Handlebars

If you’ve been into motocross as all for even any length of time, you more than likely are aware of the different bar sizes and bends that are available. There are also a bunch of different brands to choose from. Up to this point my favorite has been the original Pro-Taper 1 1/8″ (28mm) bars made by Easton (I believe these are now known as the Pro-Taper EVO — Though there is no mention of Easton on them like there used to be). Anyway, I had the original Pro-Tapers on my bike for 5 years, which included many get offs, and tons of ride time, and I never once bent them. They were and still are (I know the owner of my bike now) running strong and have yet to show any signs of weakness. [Read more →]
