How old are your tires… Are they safe?

Someone forwarded me a video done my ABC’s 20/20 program.  I’m always thinking about tires. Maybe because they cost so much, maybe because they are somewhat of a bling factor on many vehicles…  Maybe because I’m a guy — I’m sure my wife doesn’t spend more than 2 seconds a year thinking about them unless one goes flat… [Read more →]

DP-Tuner Review - First Trip

Well, I’ve had my DP-Tuner for a couple of weeks now and so far I am very satisfied.

Initially I was a little turned off by how much louder the engine was with the new chip, but oddly enough, over time it has gotten more quiet. I know there are some that would think I’m just getting used to it, but I’m comparing it to the stock tune that I have on the chip, so I know I’m not just “used to it.” [Read more →]

DP-Tuner Chip Initial Impressions

Well, after ordering my DP-Tuner for my 2001 Ford Excursion Diesel on Tuesday evening, I took delivery on Thursday (WOW). Now that’s fast. I did pay for USPS speedy shipping, but sheesh, that’s still fast. It went from Georgia to Utah in short order.

The product is awesome. The chip is very well made and looks good (I’m a computer person by trade, so I’ve seen plenty of computer boards), and the F5 switch is a thing of beauty. [Read more →]

DP-Tuner for my 2001 Excursion 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel

As previously mentioned in my last blog entry (Chip for my 2001 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel Excursion), I have been on the market for a new chip for my Excursion. I was really torn between the Tony Wildman & DP-Tuner chips, and until someone I trust, that runs both, mentioned his thoughts on each chip, I didn’t know which way I was going. [Read more →]

Chip for my 2001 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel Excursion

I am in the process of trying to decide what chip to buy. I thought I had my mind made up to get a Tony Wildman chip. However, due to my nature, I just couldn’t leave well enough alone, and have spend a considerable amount of time researching both products. After all, I’ll be spending $400+ for the chip and custom tunes, and want to make sure I get the best product, for the least amount of money I can while still meeting my wants/goals.

As previously mentioned, I’ve been spending a LOT of time reading reviews on both FordPowerstroke.org & theDieselStop.com, trying to educate myself on the best chip for my truck (Ford Excursion 7.3L PSD), that will perform better than a “canned” tune. This has created quite a quandary for me because it would appear that both are excellent, so I think I’ll let the $$ be the deciding factor — or at least help me decide. [Read more →]

Ford Excursion - Diesel

As some of you may know, I’ve recently purchased a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited 4×4 with a Ford (International) Powerstroke Diesel. This is my first vehicle I’ve ever owned with a diesel, and let me tell you, I’ve got a lot to learn. They are very different than your standard gas engine, starting with the way they start, the way they drive, the fuel they use, and the sheer amount of oil the engine takes when you change it. It’s been a very fun learning experience to say the least. [Read more →]

New Custom License Plate

I have been bugging my better half for quite some time now to allow me to get a custom license plate. Well we recently purchased a 2001 Limited Ford Excursion 4×4 PSD (Power Stroke Diesel), and with this purchase, she finally let me do it. [Read more →]
