I’ve been bike-less for the last year or so, and it’s been killing me.
This year, I’m at the point where I can get myself a new one, and I’m a little stuck between the RM-Z450 (EFI – Electronic Fuel Injection) and the CRF450R. At this point, I am leaning toward the CRF though, as early production RM-Z’s were returned to the factory due to some problems. I’m not sure what problems, but one can only assume it relates to the EFI. It’s also the first year for a production Motocross bike to have it (we won’t count Cannondale).
FINALLY, Honda put 22mm off-set triple clamps on the bike, and to go along with it an HPSD (Honda Progressive Steering Dampener), so this bike should carve a line like no other Honda, and still maintain great straight line stability.
So at this point, I’m pretty sure the bike for me will be the 2008 Honda CRF450R. Just need to see if I can find a dealer that has a black one.
It also won the TWMX (Transworld Motocross) 450 shootout, but I could honestly care less what the rags have to say about it. However, I do appreciate the reviews that Motocross.com does as they seem to give HONEST opinions on all the bikes they test. However at this time, they have not posted up a review of the bike…
That’s okay though because there are a few reviews posted by the guys on AllThingsMoto.com (best Moto website on the planet):
The bike is soo good, It’s even turning those who have bled BLUE for years to it.
