Useful Information About Motorcycle Chains

I hear this question all the time about motorcycle chains (applies to ATV’s too).  Which chain should I get, an O-ring or a Non-O-ring?  Through the years I’ve had the privilege of talking to some pretty smart people on this exact topic.  Due to the confusion on hear on this topic, I really thought it would be a good idea to post what I’ve learned.  Also, when I say O-ring, that covers all ring type chains — O, X, and W-Ring chains.

Almost all reasons I’ve read go something like this: [Read more →]

The Best How to Change a Motorcycle Tire Video

I found it. After some diligent searching on TWMX I was unable to find the video they did a couple years ago about how to change a tire. However, I did some looking on YouTube to see if some how it made it on there, and to my pleasant surprise it did.

How to Change a Motorcycle Tire Video

Again, I found yet another great video by Motosport.com about how to change a tire on your dirt bike. If you are like most people you take you tire to the local shop and pay anywhere from $10 (if you are lucky) on up to $30 to have a tire changed.

In reality, changing a tire is not very difficult IF you know all the tricks to making the job easier. Once you know them you’ll never (we’ll their are still those with money to blow that will pay for it — but those guys are either girls (sorry girls :) ) or wouldn’t be watching this video anyway). Yamaha Motorcycle Owners Manuals

Dano426 over on All Things Moto! posted a link to download Yamaha Motorcycle and Scooter owners manuals in PDF format. Excellent Video about Checking and Adjusting Valves

I just came across this really good video created by the guys at Hot Cams about how to adjust and check the valves on your 4-stroke thumper. There are 2 videos, one is specific to the Honda CRF450R, and it’s single cam or “Uni-cam” the other is specific to the Yamaha YZ250F and its dual cam setup. The Honda’s (CRF250R & CRF450R) are the only ones with single cams. All other bikes are dual cam bikes. [Read more →]

One of my favorite web sites besides allthingsmoto.com is motocross.com. Recently I was checking out all there video’s and found a great “How To” video on changing the piston on a 4-Stroke motorcycle (KXF, RM-Z, YZF, CRF, SXF, etc.). Let me also state that I have replaced the piston on my old 2003 CRF450, so I know how to do it, and this really is a great, informational video. [Read more →]
